  94. today, it will probably keep more people out of ham radio than Morse

  108. Since the corrections for these two updates were minor, I figured I'd
  109. post the corrections here.  Other fixes available may be obtained from
  110. me via email and include:
  111.     Novice v2.0 to v2.1 corrections
  112.     Technician v2.0 to v2.1 corrections
  113.     General v1.0 to v1.1 corrections
  114.     Advanced v1.0 to v1.1 corrections
  115.  
  116. These fixes are for the HyperCard Ham Stacks which I created for the
  117. MacIntosh computer.  HyperCard only runs on Macs, so I don't believe this
  118. is of any value to IBM PC owners.

  123. Novice Ham Stack v2.1 CHANGES to get to v2.2:
  124. --------------------------------------------

  126. Someone has noted to me that the question on double-throw switches is 
  127. incorrect.  I've looked at the Tune In The World With Ham Radio and I
  128. DID copy it in correctly.  BUT I agree that it is incorrect.  So here's
  129. the changes to fix it.  This change DOES require "painting" ability in
  130. HyperCard, but I will try to explain it so even an uninitiated can fix
  131. it.
  132.  
  133. 1.  Ctrl M to pull up a message box.
  134. 2.  Type "set userlevel to 5"
  135. 3.  Type "show menubar"
  136. 4.  Type "go to card "#275""
  137. 5.  Click on the Tools Menu and PULL it over to the right side by holding
  138.     down the mouse and pulling OFF of the menu.  When you release the mouse,
  139.     the Tools Menu will remain visible.
  140. 6.  Choose the "select" tool.  That's the dashed square right below the Browse
  141.     ICON in the top left corner.
  142. 7.  Carefully select to top right circle of the picture in Answer B.  This is
  143.     done by moving cursor just above the top left of the circle, click and
  144.     hold down the mouse while pulling across to the bottom right of the circle.
  145.     Keep the box as SMALL as possible but be sure that you've selected all
  146.     of the circle.  (If you make a mistake, remember that Edit Menu, Undo,
  147.     will undo the last thing you did)
  148. 8.  While the circle is selected, hold down the OPTION and SHIFT keys and 
  149.     click on the circle and hold down the mouse key. Go STRAIGHT UP and place 
  150.     the newly created circle right above the top slanted bar.
  151. 9.  Release the buttons.  Now, while the new circle is still selected, 
  152.     hold down the OPTION and SHIFT keys and click on the circle and hold down
  153.     the mouse key.  Go STRAIGHT DOWN and place the newly created circle right
  154.     above the lower slanted bar.  The result should something like:

  164. 10. Click Browse (top left ICON) in the Tools Menu, then click the Tools

  168. ICON, pull down File Menu and choose Info, and change v2.1 to v2.2.

  203. Not true.  They could use an A/D to get the signal into digital form,
  204. encode it with whatever digital encryption scheme they like, and then
  205. use a D/A to get the encrypted signal back into analog.  This signal
  206. could be used to modulate the transmitter in the conventional way.
  207. Alternatively, the digital signal could be used to directly modulate the
  208. transmitter.  (This is possible with PLL controlled FM tranmitters, for
  209. example.)  Of course, a D/A would still be needed to drive the audio
  210. amplifier with the decrypted signal on receive.  The expense is not as
  211. much as you might imagine, but it still was significant enough that the
  212. cellular-telephone lobby was able to spend thousands of dollars lobbying
  213. for the nazi-gestapo-like ECPA law.
